Softball Recap: Caney Valley Beats Chelsea for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Caney Valley proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 15) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chelsea Dragons, sneaking past 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won four contests in a row.

Anderly Edwards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Riley Brooks was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Addie Daniel also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Caney Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Chelsea, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Caney Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Skiatook at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chelsea, they will host Sequoyah at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
