Softball Recap: Riceville Comes Up Short

Riceville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Hampton Chickasaws. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 9-2 to the Chickasaws when the teams met back in July of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Riceville's defeat dropped their record down to 18-13. As for New Hampton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riceville will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Fork at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for New Hampton, they will be playing at home against Crestwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
