Basketball Recap: Academy of the New Church Comes Up Short

Academy of the New Church was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Masterman 65-33. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Academy of the New Church's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Teich, who posted nine points and three steals, and Maddie Conlon, who scored 11 points.

It was another big night for Jocelyn Goldstein, who earned 37 points for Masterman. Goldstein's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Simmons, who put up 14 points.

Academy of the New Church's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Masterman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Academy of the New Church wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-24 win against Abington Friends on the 28th. As for Masterman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-22 loss against Plymouth Whitemarsh on the 26th.
