Basketball Game Preview: McFarland Cougars vs. Delano Tigers

Two dominant guards in Malachi Davis and Jotham Amodo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the McFarland Cougars challenge the Delano Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday... McFarland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Delano likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, McFarland was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennedy, taking the game 64-57.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delano). They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 win over Wasco on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Delano.

Delano's win came from a few key players McFarland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amodo, who posted 19 points and five assists. RG Garcia was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Delano's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for McFarland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for McFarland against Delano when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured an 82-47 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Amodo, who earned 20 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will McFarland still be able to contain Amodo?
