Basketball Recap: Shadow Ridge Takes a Loss

Shadow Ridge lost against Boulder Creek back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Shadow Ridge Stallions were dealt a 67-39 loss at the hands of the Boulder Creek Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Jaguars are ranked second).

When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost, don't look at Marshawn McCullum. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points. McCullum's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Garcia, who posted seven points.

Boulder Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mick Riordan, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points. Jude Koch also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first boards of the season.

Shadow Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Boulder Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Shadow Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-46 victory against Tolleson on the 14th. As for Boulder Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-44 win against Apollo on the 14th.
