Soccer Game Preview: Christopher vs. Santa Teresa

The Christopher Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Santa Teresa Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christopher will be strutting in after a victory while Santa Teresa will be coming in after a defeat.

Christopher headed into their last match having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Live Oak let them put that streak behind them. Christopher was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Live Oak on Tuesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-1.

Christopher hit Live Oak with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ella Oetinger (4), Alyssa Montejano (3), Michelle Espinosa, and Nora Gonsolin.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa managed to keep up with Evergreen Valley until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Santa Teresa came up short against Evergreen Valley, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Cougars are ranked 336th).

Christopher's win bumped their record up to 11-5-3. As for Santa Teresa, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11-2.

Christopher beat Santa Teresa 3-1 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christopher since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
