Baseball Recap: Duluth Has No Trouble Against Meadowcreek

After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Duluth brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on the Meadowcreek Mustangs with a sharp 12-1 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Jesus Pacheco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Johnnattan Urdanetta and Will Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Urdanetta scored two runs and stole three bases, while Jackson scored three runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three runs gave Jackson a new career-high. Jordan Mueller was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Duluth's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Meadowcreek, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Duluth beat the Mustangs by a score of 13-2 later that day.
