Softball Recap: Marion County Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Marion County won the last time they faced Manchester and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles blew past the Blue Devils 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Addie Underwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenny Addison, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Lindsay Bagley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Marion County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Marion County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Manchester, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion County will square off against Rutland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manchester, they will challenge St. Anne-Pacelli at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
