Suggested Video

After each having a week off, the Hebron Hawks and the Coppell Cowboys will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Two weeks ago, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Hebron made off with a 34-33 victory over Lancaster.

Hebron can attribute much of their success to Ayson Mccray-Jones, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Tyler Hoke, who picked up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown. Mccray-Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run.

Meanwhile, Coppell put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bowie 72-33 on the road. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Volunteers are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hebron now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Coppell, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Hebron took a serious blow against Coppell in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, falling 49-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Coppell's Edward Griffin, who threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt. Now that Hebron knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
