Basketball Recap: Animo De La Hoya Takes a Loss

Animo De La Hoya was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-17 heartbreaker at the hands of the Smidt Tech Grey Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grey Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-17 last Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Animo De La Hoya still got an impressive performance from Eva Longoria, who posted 11 points and three steals. Rosario Cruz also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Animo De La Hoya's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Smidt Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season.

Animo De La Hoya wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 23-18 defeat against The School of Los Angeles on the 13th. As for Smidt Tech, they have also already played their next game, a 14-7 win against Los Angeles Leadership Academy on the 13th.
