Recap: Colfax Falcons vs. Sutter Huskies
The Colfax Falcons had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Wednesday. They blew past Sutter, posting a 75-36 victory at home. Colfax has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.
Juliette James was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurlyn Massick, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Sutter had strong showings from Sydney Meagher, who scored 14 points, and Torrence Harter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Harter is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Sutter struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Colfax racked up 18 assists.
Colfax's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Sutter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colfax will take on Twelve Bridges at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Twelve Bridges focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for Sutter, they will head out on the road to challenge Lindhurst at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lindhurst has now lost 18 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17.
