Softball Recap: Spalding Starts off Right with Win over Stockbridge

Spalding gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Stockbridge Tigers with a sharp 17-3 win. The Jaguars not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 3, 2024 (when they won 18-1).

Abigail Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Macie Robertson was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ra'Khiya Duffie, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Spalding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stockbridge only posted an OBP of .357.

Coincidentally, Spalding and Stockbridge will both be playing Manchester the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Blue Devils at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Jaguars will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
