Baseball Game Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. Marcellus Mustangs

The Chittenango Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Marcellus Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chittenango will be strutting in after a victory while Marcellus will be coming in after a loss.

Chittenango will bounce into Friday's game after beating Homer, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bears came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 9-5 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

AJ Valente was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maddox Shantel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Marcellus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 9-4 to Skaneateles.

Marcellus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mattison, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Nicholas Snyder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Chittenango's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Marcellus, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Chittenango was able to grind out a solid victory over Marcellus in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
