Basketball Recap: Garces Memorial Takes a Loss

Garces Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highland Scots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-34 back in December of 2024.

Highland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eternaty Proctor out in front who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance also gave Proctor a new career-high in field goal percentage (50%). Another player making a difference was Zelia Hoyt, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 15 points.

Garces Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Highland, their record now sits at 8-12.

Garces Memorial has already played their next matchup, a 77-25 defeat against Centennial on the 28th. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-38 loss against Bakersfield on the 28th.
