Soccer Game Preview: Springfield Southeast vs. Jacksonville

Springfield Southeast is 0-10 against Jacksonville since October of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crimsons at 6:00 p.m. Springfield Southeast has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Springfield Southeast is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Glenwood on Tuesday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Springfield Southeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Glenwood are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Jacksonville hasn't lost a match since September 2nd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They never let Beardstown get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Considering Jacksonville have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Beardstown with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Joe Reif, Braedyn Thomas, and Asher Greene.

Springfield Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-2. As for Jacksonville, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-3.
