Basketball Game Preview: Armwood Hawks vs. Bayside Bears

The Armwood Hawks will take on the Bayside Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Armwood has three straight wins, Bayside has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Armwood hadn't beaten Middleton on the road since December 17, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Hawks claimed a resounding 72-45 victory over the Tigers. Fans of the Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Armwood found their leader in sophomore Sebastien Lefranc, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Lefranc has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 45% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Bernadin, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Armwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bayside scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They received a blow as they fell 78-62 to Vero Beach.

Armwood's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Bayside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
