Softball Recap: Eustis Takes a Loss

Eustis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Branford Buccaneers.

Carson Roden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Ella Fleming was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Covino, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

Eustis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Branford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Eustis will take on The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Branford, they will challenge Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
