Football Game Preview: Leland Cubs vs. Palmer Dragons

Leland is 0-3 against Palmer since October of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Cubs will head out to take on the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. This will be Leland's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Leland's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Simmons on Friday. They had to suffer through a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 84th).

Meanwhile, Palmer is still winless after their game against North Panola on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cougars. Even if the Dragons couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Palmer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Leland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Leland came up short against Palmer in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, falling 24-20. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
