Denver East and Denver North are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2018, but likely not for long. The Angels are taking a road trip to face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Denver East will be strutting in after a win while Denver North will be coming in after a defeat.
If Denver East beats Denver North with 17 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Angels beat Rangeview on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-5. Considering the Angels have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Grace Faris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Reese Larson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emmy Lang, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Denver East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are 6-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Denver North unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denver South.
Sophia Guerrero was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Denver East and bumps their season record up to 8-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Denver North, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 15-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Denver East hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Denver North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Denver East might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Denver North in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Angels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
