Soccer Game Preview: Castro Valley vs. Bishop O'Dowd

The Castro Valley Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Castro Valley earned a 3-1 victory over Alameda. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Berkeley. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chloe Keating and Kiana Lee Olsen scored both of Bishop O'Dowd's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Bishop O'Dowd's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those seven matchups. As for Castro Valley, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-5-1.

Castro Valley came up short against Bishop O'Dowd in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 2-0. Can Castro Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
