            Softball Recap: Mitchell County Eagles vs. Early County Bobcats        
        
		
        
        
            Mitchell County extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to 18  on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against  the Early County Bobcats, falling  12-4. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing  25-15 to the Bobcats when the teams met back in September of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Early County's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
For Early County's part,  Lailah Means was a  major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Means was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in both of her plate appearances with three  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  London Sherman was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  home run, two  stolen bases,  and two  runs. Those  two  runs gave  her a new career-high.  Mackenzie Sapp was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mitchell County is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Spring Creek Charter Academy  at 6:00  p.m.  on  the 25th. Meanwhile, Early County will  challenge  rival Terrell County  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
