Baseball Recap: Randolph-Clay Takes a Loss

Randolph-Clay extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They came up short against the Miller County Pirates, falling 24-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 17, 2023, but that streak is no more.

As for Miller County, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

For Miller County's part, Kolby Yates made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Yates has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Thomas Cook was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Keown, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

Randolph-Clay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miller County, they will challenge Georgia Military College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
