Soccer Game Preview: Knight vs. Sultana

The Knight Hawks will take on the Sultana Sultans in a tournament on Saturday.

Knight is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Littlerock on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Knight can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Littlerock are ranked 123rd).

Meanwhile, Sultana came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Hillcrest 2-1 on Monday.

Madison Hernandez and Cissy Men scored both of Sultana's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Sultana's victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Knight, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season.

Knight beat Sultana by a goal when the teams last played back in November of 2019, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
