Basketball Recap: Jayda Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Foothill over Arvin

Foothill lost against Arvin back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Foothill Trojans fell 41-32 to the Arvin Bears.

Foothill's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayda Green, who posted six points along with eight boards and four steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raven Placheta, who put up ten points.

Even though they lost, Foothill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive matchups.

Arvin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melina Gracia, who went 6-for-12 en route to 14 points and five steals. Gracia has become a key player for Arvin: the team is 5-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 7-11 otherwise. Mariana Soto was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Arvin, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season.

Foothill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 34-20 defeat against Golden Valley on the 7th. As for Arvin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 36-34 victory against Mira Monte on the 7th.
