Basketball Game Preview: Marquez Gladiators vs. Math & Science College Preparatory Sharks

The Marquez Gladiators and the Math & Science College Preparatory Sharks will face off at 12:40 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Marquez saw some tournament action on Thursday. The matchup between them and Huntington Park didn't end well, with Marquez falling 46-28.

Loss or not, Marquez got some senior leadership from Corshell Vaughn and Magaly Gonzalez. Vaughn almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds, while Gonzalez posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Vaughn is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Math & Science College Preparatory ended up a good deal behind Fremont on Thursday and lost 30-11.

Marquez now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Math & Science College Preparatory, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Marquez against Math & Science College Preparatory in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as the squad secured a 66-20 win.
