Basketball Recap: Lucerne Valley Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Lucerne Valley won the last time they faced Bethel Christian, and Yoselin Trujillo did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lucerne Valley Mustangs blew past the Bethel Christian Kings, posting a 60-8 victory thanks in part to Trujillo, who posted nine points along with eight assists and three steals. Those eight assists gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Evans, who put up nine points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Bethel Christian's loss on Saturday came despite strong showings from Samantha Arellano and Faith Lantry. Arellano had three points and three steals, while Lantry earned a point.

Lucerne Valley has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.9 points per game. As for Bethel Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Lucerne Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-25 win against Glendale Adventist on the 30th. As for Bethel Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-8 defeat against Loma Linda Academy on the 28th.
