Recap: El Primero Lobos vs. The Nueva School Mavericks
This season hasn't been kind to the El Primero Lobos, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They lost to The Nueva School on the road by a decisive 38-23 margin on Friday.
Despite the loss, El Primero still got an impressive performance from Camila Palacios, who scored 11 points. Palacios scored a full 47.8% of El Primero's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Yesenia Villanueva was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Leading The Nueva School to victory were Anjali Mariathasan and Amrutha Rao. Mariathasan scored 15 points along with 3 steals, while Rao scored 12 points along with 8 steals. The contest was Mariathasan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Siana Kapoor, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
El Primero's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for The Nueva School, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Primero will take on Ygnacio Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ygnacio Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than El Primero in California (Ygnacio Valley is ranked 74th, while El Primero is ranked 1032nd). As for The Nueva School, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on San Francisco Waldorf at 5:30 p.m. on December 5th. San Francisco Waldorf is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
