Softball Recap: Rock Canyon Takes a Loss

Rock Canyon fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cherry Creek on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 4-2. The Jaguars just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Kennedi Martinez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rock Canyon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Lowery, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Rock Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cherry Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Rock Canyon will face off against Lutheran at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cherry Creek, they will square off against Regis Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
