Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Northwood Timberwolves

The Capistrano Valley Cougars will face off against the Northwood Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Capistrano Valley has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 10.

Capistrano Valley came up short against Mission Viejo on Monday, falling 48-22.

Meanwhile, Northwood suffered their biggest loss since November 26, 2024 on Monday. They were dealt an 89-26 defeat at the hands of Buena Park. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 928th, while the Coyotes are ranked 68th).

Northwood has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Capistrano Valley came up short against Northwood when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 40-33. Can Capistrano Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
