Basketball Recap: Belleville Mennonite Comes Up Short

Belleville Mennonite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-26 defeat at the hands of the Blacklick Valley Vikings. The Thunder were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

Kristin Szymusiak was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists for Blacklick Valley. Szymusiak has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 40 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josie Nedrich, who posted seven points and four steals.

Belleville Mennonite's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Blacklick Valley, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Belleville Mennonite is taking a road trip to challenge Juniata Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belleville Mennonite is facing Juniata Christian at the right time seeing as Juniata Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Blacklick Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Meyersdale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Blacklick Valley's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Meyersdale has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
