Baseball Recap: D.H. Conley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact D.H. Conley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Holly Springs Golden Hawks by a score of 4-3 on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Vikings have let down their home crowd.

Tucker Anderson got D.H. Conley off to a strong start despite the final result, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Anderson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, D.H. Conley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harrison Corey, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

D.H. Conley's defeat dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Holly Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

D.H. Conley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holly Springs, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cardinal Gibbons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Hawks 2.4, the Crusaders 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
