Recap: Bishop McCort Crushers vs. Greater Johnstown Trojans
The Bishop McCort Crushers put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over Greater Johnstown. Given Bishop McCort's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Greater Johnstown is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop McCort's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elle Berkebile led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berkebile has scored all season. Gianna Gallucci was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with four steals.
Bishop McCort pushed their record up to 19-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Greater Johnstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Bishop McCort will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Ferndale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Greater Johnstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
