Softball Recap: Denver East Triumphs

Denver East hadn't done well against George Washington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Angels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Patriots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Angels.

Emmy Lang was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Reese Larson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Denver East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Denver East now has a winning record of 4-3. As for George Washington, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver East will head out to square off against Rangeview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Angels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for George Washington, they will venture away from home to challenge Mesa Ridge at 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
