Softball Recap: Holyoke Comes Up Short

Holyoke extended their losing streak to 13 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-19. They came up short against the Wray/Yuma Eagles, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on September 5th.

Hailey Clapper made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Wray/Yuma, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Wray/Yuma's side, Danyelle Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Davis has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on London King, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Lauren Gdanitz was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wray/Yuma beat Holyoke by a score of 13-2 later that day.
