Basketball Recap: Bellefonte Takes a Loss

Bellefonte lost against Clearfield back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Bellefonte Raiders had to suffer through a 71-18 loss at the hands of the Clearfield Bison. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-10.

Clearfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Helsel led the charge by going 9 for 17 on her way to 23 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Helsel a new career-high. Sonny Diehl was another key player, almost dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals.

Bellefonte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Clearfield, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellefonte will welcome Tyrone at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clearfield, they will host Bishop Guilfoyle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Guilfoyle will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Clearfield surely won't give up without a fight.
