Basketball Game Preview: Weston Ranch Cougars vs. Calaveras Red Hawks

The Weston Ranch Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Calaveras Red Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Weston Ranch is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Westlake Charter on Monday. The Cougars came out on top against the Explorers by a score of 45-34.

Weston Ranch relied on the efforts of Alana McGee, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 24 points and five steals, and Lila Harper, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. McGee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Calaveras put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 31-25 W against Amador.

Calaveras' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Weston Ranch, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Weston Ranch suffered a grim 58-32 defeat to Calaveras in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
