Baseball Recap: Heritage Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Heritage entered their tilt with St. Mary's Academy on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 16-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 on April 2nd.

Bryson Smallwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Heritage got a massive performance out of Landon Justice, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Justice is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Durham, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's Academy only posted an OBP of .200.

Heritage's record now sits at 9-13. As for St. Mary's Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Heritage has already played their next game, an 11-5 win against Rock Springs Christian Academy on the 1st. St. Mary's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
