Basketball Game Preview: Lompoc Braves vs. Cabrillo Conquistadores

Lompoc is 1-9 against Cabrillo since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lompoc Braves are taking a road trip to take on the Cabrillo Conquistadores at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lompoc took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Paso Robles by a score of 47-36.

Meanwhile, Cabrillo had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 49-30.

Cabrillo's win came from a few key players Lompoc will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jasmyn Hughes, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Austin, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points.

Cabrillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Cabrillo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Lompoc, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lompoc might still be hurting after the 42-22 loss they got from Cabrillo in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Lompoc avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
