Basketball Recap: United Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cambria Heights, United was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 45-40 W over the Somerset Eagles. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Despite the loss, Somerset still got an impressive performance from Eve Housley, who posted 23 points along with eight steals and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Housley a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Holmes, who had two points in addition to 16 boards and eight blocks.

United is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Somerset, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

United will head out to square off against Conemaugh Valley at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Somerset, they and North Star will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
