Baseball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Takes a Loss

Thornton Fractional South extended their losing streak to ten on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-16-1 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Oak Forest Bengals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Monday.

As for Oak Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.7 runs.

For Oak Forest's part, Hayden Noha looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Noha a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Justin Gibbs was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Sullivan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Looking ahead, Thornton Fractional South will venture away from home to face off against Argo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Argonauts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something the Red Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oak Forest, they will host Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
