Softball Game Preview: Heritage Generals vs. Calhoun Yellow Jackets

For the second straight game, Heritage will face off against Calhoun. The Generals will be playing at home against the Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Calhoun's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Heritage is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Calhoun on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 2-1. The Generals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Calhoun's part, Saydi Prokop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maggy Abernathy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Calhoun pushed their record up to 8-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
