Basketball Recap: Austin Skates Past Smethport with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Austin). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Smethport Hubbers 46-14. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Smethport lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Payton Neff, who posted six points. Neff is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Madelyn McKean was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Austin pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.7 points per game. As for Smethport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Austin will be playing in front of their home fans against Coudersport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Austin's defense has only allowed 24.8 points per game this season, so Coudersport's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Smethport, they will venture away from home to take on Otto-Eldred at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Otto-Eldred is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.
