Volleyball Recap: Old Lyme Falls Despite Big Games from Kaylyn Vernon and Maggie Thuma + How To Watch

Old Lyme was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Morgan Huskies. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Morgan scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Old Lyme had strong showings from Maggie Thuma, who had 15 digs and three aces, and Kaylyn Vernon, who had 12 assists and nine digs. Thuma has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Old Lyme's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Morgan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Coming up, Old Lyme will venture away from home to square off against Haddam-Killingworth at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morgan, they have already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Montville on the 9th.
