Football Game Preview: Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks vs. Proctor Raiders

The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks will venture away from home to challenge the Proctor Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newburgh Free Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Newburgh Free Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Valley Central 56-14. The win continues a trend for the Goldbacks in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Proctor came up short against Cicero-North Syracuse on Friday and fell 35-26. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Northstars are ranked 29th).

Newburgh Free Academy will have to keep a close watch on Walter Phillips and Wyatt Robinson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Proctor's prior game. Phillips picked up 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Robinson threw for 157 yards and three TDs.

Newburgh Free Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Proctor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
