Softball Recap: Live Oak Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Las Plumas, Live Oak was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Gridley Bulldogs 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, they had to take a 12-10 defeat.

Sarah Jupina was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Landes, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

The win got Live Oak back to even at 9-9. As for Gridley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Coming up, Live Oak will take on Corning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.04 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Gridley, they will face off against Orland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
