Soccer Recap: Bernstein Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Roybal

Bernstein was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Roybal Titans. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Titans are ranked 294th).

Bernstein hit Roybal with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Odalis Rivera (2), Dayana Deras, and Ada Caceres.

Bernstein has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matchups. As for Roybal, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1-1.

Bernstein will look to defend their home pitch on Wednesday against Robert F. Kennedy Community at 4:00 p.m. As for Roybal, they are taking a road trip to take on Belmont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roybal is facing Belmont at the right time seeing as Belmont is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
