Basketball Recap: Franklin County Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Franklin County came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Liberty County Bulldogs by a score of 51-41. The Seahawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braelin Morris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Those 11 boards gave Morris a new career-high. Sadiq Jones was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points along with six boards and three steals.

Franklin County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Lollie, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Lollie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Haupt, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and four blocks.

Franklin County's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Liberty County, they moved to 9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Franklin County and Liberty County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Franklin County (ranked 241st) will meet Sneads (ranked 512th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Liberty County (ranked 172nd) will meet Vernon (ranked 735th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
