Football Recap: Mount Airy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

The Mount Airy Granite Bears had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers. The Granite Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Ahmad Francis threw for 52 yards and one TD. On the ground, Kylan Mason rushed for 59 yards.

Jefferson Forest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Jackson out in front who threw for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing, and also rushed for 33 yards and one score. Those 33 rushing yards gave Jackson a new career-high. Jefferson Forest also got a significant boost from Xander Coleman, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

Mount Airy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Jefferson Forest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Mount Airy will welcome St. Stephens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Granite Bears will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Jefferson Forest, they will venture away from home to face off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cavaliers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
