Baseball Recap: Lewis County Comes Up Short

Lewis County extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 9-19. They lost 10-2 to the Hampshire Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Minutemen of the 15-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Lewis County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Nesbitt, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Hampshire, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Hampshire's side, Zeke McDonald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, Chris Wood was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Brayden Hott was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Hampshire didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 defeat against Robert C. Byrd on the 19th. Hopefully Lewis County paid attention to the Trojans' matchup: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
