Soccer Recap: Costa Mesa Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Costa Mesa can now relate to. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Sage Hill Lightning who were credited with the victory on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Lightning are ranked 56th).

Costa Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Sage Hill, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Costa Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sage Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coachella Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Coachella Valley's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
